How The Flexible Thumb Brace Works ( Day Time Use ) During the day , it may seem as though the thumb is at rest. However , it is constantly in motion while you are walking , speaking etc. These repeated micro-movements are one of the factors that cause painful thumb inflammation. The Epitact stabilizes the thumb saddle and the metacarpophalangeal joint , keeping the thumb in a resting position without completely immobilizing it. The use of this thumb support adequately restricts traumatic micro- movements.
